Mrs. Alice Silvernail, widow of Jacob Silvernail, and resident of Canton for nearly 70 years, died at 8:00 Thursday evening at her home, 311 West Locust St. About a month ago Mrs. Silvernail was taken seriously ill of grip, and this, together with the infirmities of advanced age, was cause of death. Alice Potter was born Oct. 30, 1823, in NJ, and came to Canton with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Potter in 1836. She was married April 26, 1842, to Jacob Silvernail, who death occurred in Dec. 1899. Of the family of nine children, five daughters survive. They are Mrs. Mary Chenoweth, of Rannth, Colorado, Mrs. John Ryno of Breed; Mrs. SM Russom, of Fullerton, Neb; Mrs. JC Whitehall** of Farragut, Iowa, and Mrs John Elwell of Table Grove. Two sons and two daughters are dead. Mrs. Susan Brebner, of Farmington and Mrs. Jo(e)nnie of Chicago, sisters of Mrs. Silvernail, are only living members of her immediate family. In the late years of her life Mrs. Silvernail was cared for by a granddaughter, Mrs.I. M. Blakemore, who resides with her at the old home on Locust Street.
