He was 27 years of age and had always lived in Atlanta. He leaves a wife who was residing in Burden during her husband's absence. Sergeant Martin was a brother of Willis Martin of Winfield.

The funeral of Mrs. Leroy Martin who died Tuesday noon was held in Burden Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at which time a memorial service was conducted in honor of her husband, Sergeant Marin, who made the supreme sacrifice in France on November 1, 1918, when killed in action. The pall bearers chosen were soldiers returned from service. It was one of the largest funerals ever held in Burden. Interment was made in the Burden cemetery.

Legion Post In Charge of Funeral of Another Overseas Man
The funeral of Sergeant LeRoy Martin, Co. "G", 353rd Inf. was held at Burden Sunday afternoon. The body was committed to the earth in Burden cemetary [sic]. Full military honors were rendered by Burden post of the American Legion, with Col. John O'Connor, of Winfield Post, acting as commander and chaplain. In spite of the rain of the previous night and consequently heavy condition of the roads, a very large crowd was in attendance. People came from Cambridge, Grand Summit, Atlanta, Wilmot, Floral, New Salem and Winfield.
