Newspaper Article, 10 Aug 1900, Elmo, Nodaway County, Missouri 64445. 35 The following are excerpts from the Elmo Register newspaper and are transcribed as printed in the paper:

10 AUG 1900: Pg. 1: The Oviatt Bros., the well known horse buyers, were victimized recently to the extent of several hundred dollars by a sharper from the Kansas City stock yards. It was a swindle. There will be some lively litigation about it with the chances that the Oviatts will not loose [sic] very much, the loss falling on the banks
