Miscellaneous, 1932. 17 Harriett wrote this letter to her mother, Ruth Charlotte Conklin-Whitehill, while she was visiting her paternal grandmother, Josephine Silvernail-Whitehill, in Shenandoah, Iowa. From the handwriting and spelling, I would say it was written when she was in the 10 to 12 year old range, 1932-1934.

"Monday 12:30
Dear Mother
How are you and daddy We are fine. We went to the show 2 times and next Wed. I s.pose. We have some little grils [sic] to play with. So we have nice times here. We went to Sunday School Sunday and next Sunday to [sic] with the little grils. They names are Helen a Avis. To day we all made a island out of rocks at the creek we had a nice time. I fell in but dry before I came in. The name of the island is called treasure island. We went to Aunt Wheats [her father's sister, Oweata Whitehill-Lynn] house for a week gald [sic] you are coming so I can come home and play with the kids like Mary. We whent [sic] to Aunt Alice seen lot of nice thing they have to Babby calfs and 4 little pigs. Well I don't know what to write so I will close. Yours truly Harriet
